Squirrel Dog

I found out that the best way to keep the squirrels off my bird feeder is to get a squirrel dog

Tidin Rennur

Streymoy, Faroe Islands

Church of Norðragøta, Faroe Islands

Sisselforever Here is a rough translation:
1. Time runs like current in a river, often may the waves fall,
I'm adrift on a little boat, without any oars.

2. And every moment and every hour towards the large waterfall I'm drawn,
my heart tightens, my spirit is heavy, where is a way out of this torment?

---not in here, but part of the original song---
 3. Which friend has the will and strength to help me towards land?
All are in the same trouble as I.

4. One friend has the will and strength to save me from the isthmus;
Jesus can lead the little boat safely towards Heaven's sand.

---This last stanza is in the version of the song she is singing---
5. Time runs like the current in a river, forwards in the Lord's name!
I'm on a small boat, Heaven's beach ahead!

Lemonz1989  Thank you

1. Tíðin rennur sum streymur í á,
títt munnu bylgjurnar falla:
lítlum báti rekist eg á,
áraleysur at kalla.
2. (Og) hvør ein løta og hvør ein stund
at stóra fossinum dregur:
treingist mítt hjarta, tyngist mín lund,
hvar er úr neyðini vegur?
3. Hvør hevur vinur vilja og mátt
at bjarga mær til landa?
Allir (teir) eru á líkan hátt
staddir sum eg í vanda.
4. Ein hevur vinur vilja og mátt
at bjarga mær frá grandi;
Jesus kann føra mín lítla bát
trygt at himnasandi.
5. Tíðin rennur sum streymur í á,
fram í Harrans navni!
Lítlum báti eri eg á,
himnastrond fyri stavni.

America

http://extras.denverpost.com/archive/captured.asp

America in the 1940's. A time when hard work, being poor, loving America, knowing true religion was Christianity and not being on welfare wasn't a crime.

Savannah and Bergen - Sister City

Cobblestone Savannah
Cobblestone Bergen
Savannah USA River st waterfront
Bergen Norway Ovregaten st waterfront
Should Bergen, Norway have as it's sister city Savannah, Ga. instead of Seattle, Washington. Maybe Seattle's terrain matches more than Savannah, but Savannah and it's combination of historic and modern is more of a match.

Tidin Rennur by Stanley Samuelsen

Tíðin rennur sum streymur í á

New Years Eve 2009 in Vágur, Faroe Islands. On this photo the men in the procession have come to their destination, the Triangle Square, where the wooden boat will become a bonfire in a few seconds. They are singing "Tíðin rennur sum streymur í á", which they do every year at the same time on the same place.

Can anyone from the Scandinavian countries improve on the translation of this song:

1. Tidin rennur sum streymur í á, Frequent runs on some streams in,
titt munu bylgjurnar falla: irregular waves will fall
lítlum báti rekist eg á, small boats I have come across,
áraleysur at kalla. Araleyzur that called.

2. Og hvør ein løta og hvør ein stund And each and every little one for a while
at stóra fossinum dregur: At the big waterfall draws
treigist mitt hjarta, tyngist min lund, suspension stays my heart, connect my lund
hvar er úr neydini vegur? Where is the forced way

3. Hvør hevur vinur vilja og mátt Each hevur friend will and power
at bjarga mær til landa? to rescue a maiden to countries?
Allir eru á olikan hátt All are in different ways
staddir sum eg í vanda. I present some problems.

4. Ein hevur vinur vilja og mátt One hevur friend will and power
at bjarga mær frá grandi; to rescue a maiden from hurt;
Jesus kann føra in lítla bát Jesus may Fora in a little boat
trygt at himla-sandi. safe for the kinda-Sandi.

5. Tidin rennur sum streymur í á, Frequent runs on some streams in,
fram i harrans navni! forward in God's name!
Litlum báti eri eg á, Small boat in the recent term I,
himla-strond fyri stavni himla-beach for stavni
